Important pages for your blog: About Page

When creating your blog, there are certain pages you need to have and an “About page” is one of them.  Statistics show that this is one of the most clicked on pages on a blog, so it is worth taking a little time to think about it and get it right.  It is one of those pages which should be on your review list every few months so that it is kept up to date at all times.

About pages should always be on the top navigation, and should usually be called “About”. Simplicity is sometimes the best course! You should always ensure that near the top of the page you tell them what you do and how it can  help them.  The reason for this is that people want to know that the precious time they spend reading your blog is going to help them in whatever their quest is for.  Using bullet points and bold sub-headers is also a good way of breaking up plain text, remember people who read blogs need to do it quickly and easily, and the timespan you have is very limited.  Use the “About page” to demonstrate your credibility in your chosen blog topic.  I have chosen to include a link through to my successful natural living blog, and you would be amazed at the number of hits I have had due to this fact!  Include a photo(s) of you in the page, many people are visual and respond better to this.  You can tell a story of how you came to be at this blog if you think it is relevant, but keep to the relevant points of interest to your blog audience.  Then at the end of it, decide where you would like them to go.  Maybe add in links to other social media outposts, like we have done, or maybe link to a landing page or your pillar content pages on your blog.

Have a look at our “about” page and let us know what you think.  Or if you want us to check out yours, leave the link below so we can go visit it.
