A TweetUp is a get-together of Twitter users – people who may never have met, but are acquainted online through Social Media site Twitter. It’s an opportunity to meet in real life, to turn 140 character conversations into a face-to-face encounter.
For a Twitter novice, a TweetUp is a great opportunity to find out what tweeting is all about, and for experienced Tweeps it is a chance to share the benefit of their tweeting experience with others.
Essentially a TweetUp is a form of offline social networking, enabling Tweeps to meet other Tweeps who have previously only been identified by their ‘handle’ (Twitter username). It is also a useful way of merging offline marketing for online businesses.
