#FF Follow Friday with workITgibraltar 32

According to a report on the blog of Social Media monitoring company Radian 6, tragedy and triumph were the two major themes of the 54th Grammys and Social Media conversations reflected that. The music industry and the award ceremony were rocked last Saturday by the tragic news of Whitney Houston’s death, and Adele made a triumphant return to the Grammys after an operation on her vocal chords that could have ended her career.

Once again Twitter beat traditional media by breaking the news of Whitney Houston’s passing apparently 45 minutes before mainstream media.

The tweet, posted by @ajadiornavy at 4.15pm PT Saturday, said: “omgg , my aunt tiffany who work for whitney houston just found whitney houston dead in the tub . such ashame & sad :-(”

Adele’s performance during the Grammys and her achievement at winning 6 awards apparently generated 35,000 tweets per minute to her Twitter profile, and over 300,000 Social Media mentions!

Today’s #FF recommendations by workITgibraltar may not be worthy of so many tweets, but please follow them and help build the #GibTwitterati community.
